Video Game Facts

Gamers are getting older. The average game player age is 35 (up from 33 in 2007) and the number of game players under 18 decreased from 28.2% in 2007 to 25% in 2008, while gamers 18-49 and over 50 years old increased from 47.6% to 49% and 24.2% to 26% respectively. The average age of the most frequent game purchaser crept up from 38 to 40.

The ratio of female to male players is on the rise. In 2007 38% of gamers were female versus 62% male. That's inched up to 40% female and 60% male in 2008. Women age 18 or older also represent a significantly greater portion of the game-playing population (33%) than boys age 17 or younger (18%).

The number of U.S. households with game consoles rose notably, up from 33% in 2007 to 38% in 2008.

Wendy Carolino
CEO/President and Co-Founder
Wendy, Co-Founder of Game On, has successfully opened and managed three stores within three years. Wendy’s background is in education and technology and she is a true entrepreneur. The focus to her success has always been customer service and repeat business.

Mary Johnson
VP of Franchise / Area Development
Mary Johnson has been our Senior Vice President of Area Development since September 17, 2008. Mary comes to us with over 16 years of franchising experience. From October 1990 through July 1996, Mrs. Johnson was an Operations Manager for a Virginia Beach owned Check Cashing Franchise. From July 1996 through December 1997, Mrs. Johnson was a Franchise Development Representative for Jackson Hewitt Tax Service. From December 1997 though December 1998, Mrs. Johnson was the Special Projects Marketing Manager for Jackson Hewitt Tax Service. From October 2000 through February 2008, Mrs. Johnson co-owned and was the lead in Operations and Franchise Development for an Area Development for Liberty Tax Service in Central Florida. During the interim period from February 2008 until September, Ms. Johnson has assisted in the formation and refinement of our systems.

Gil Carolino
VP of Marketing and Technology and Co-Founder
Gil has over 12 years in marketing experience focused on new media and print. He was the co-founder of Coastal Computer Service in 1998 and served as the Marketing Director for five years.  He left Coastal Computers in 2002 to manage the marketing group of Kane Marie Gallery, one of the Nation’s top upscale art galleries.  At Kane Marie he led the internet marketing team which developed and marketed the galleries ecommerce website generating over 1.7 million dollars in just nine months.  In addition he also managed the graphics department which produced national ads for publications as The Robb Report and Architectural Digest.   Gil served as the President of CDC media, a web marketing development group that has developed and marketed over 100 websites including several national brands.   Gil comes to us from one of the leading mobile technology franchises, Geeks On Call , of three years.  At Geeks On Call he developed the franchisees intranet, GeekNet.  Managing a team of 3 developers, he architected web applications that streamlined the way franchisees and the corporate office operates.  

At Game On, Gil will oversee Marketing and Technology.  His primary goal is to develop the Game On franchisee website, Team Game On, so franchisees and Area Developers are supported 24 hours a day.  He will oversee the development of marketing programs that help the franchisee thrive and keep the Game On brand a nationally visible gaming icon. 

Mike Becker
Director of Corporate Store Operations
Mike has over eight years of General Management experience including six years in the gaming industry. Mike handles day-to-day operations of corporate store locations. Mikes knowledge and experience have been instrumental in developing the operations systems for supporting our franchisees.
